GIULIA CRISPIANI
Il futuro era ieri

From 3 February 2021
#Retrofuture

Giulia Crispiani joins the RETROFUTURE section, the collection of works by young Italian artists growing organically with time.

With Il futuro era ieri (2020) the artist wonders where museums and their works would end up if Rome were dissolved by late seasonal monsoons.

“Few years later we still remember that detail that had us change the way we would look at things. It was the future that moved the hand, the future that caused that gesture to stop the stream of time. It was the future that wrote a story and collected fragments to force the gaze of her contemporaries. She put them there, where the city keeps the past and tells us about it with all the images, all the words and all the gestures that shape our memory, our movements — and all their variations.”
