Carola Spadoni, The Peripatetic Film & Video Archive – Moving images as commons

Screening and talk

Carola Spadoni presents The Peripatetic Film & Video Archive – Moving Images as commons. TPF&VA is an independent archive of moving images conceived for communing and rooted in a filming practice as a desire to “reclaim the world,” spanning from the late 1980s to the late 2000s. The artist narrates how the caméra-stylo practice developed over time informed the conception of the peripatetic archive, driven by a desire to re-enchant the world and to envision how cinema can   unfold and manifest itself nowadays.

As Federica Bueti writes: “The Peripatetic Film & Video Archive evolved from Spadoni’s desire to make accessible to others the materials of her experience and work, the many hours of footage that, through the eye of the artist and her journeys, tell the story of a geography in motion, but also of an era. The digital archive is the outcome of an ongoing process of research that attempts to answer the question of what an artistic archive’s website can be and do; and what the possibilities of the digital archive are: not only to preserve and disseminate but also to become a living platform for the redistribution and communing of artistic materials and knowledge.” (Excerpt from Geografie in Bewegung / A Geography in Motion: Archiving The Peripatetic Film & Video Collection, published in BE MAGAZINE, 09/2022)

The event will take place in the first-floor room dedicated to UNAROMA LIVE.
Free admission until capacity is reached.
