Set in an industrial area of central Italy, The Place of the Soul follows a group of factory workers facing the sudden closure of their workplace. Through social tensions, personal relationships and a strong sense of belonging, the film develops a collective narrative reflecting on labour, dignity and the transformation of Italy’s industrial landscape.
RICCARDO MILANI is an Italian director and screenwriter. After his debut with Auguri professore (1997), he directed films such as The Place of the Soul (2003) and Welcome Mr. President! (2013). In recent years he has achieved major commercial success with films like Like a Cat on a Highway (2017) and Thank You Guys (2023), blending social themes with popular comedy.
