SPAZIO GRIOT presents Differ Like Syllables from Sound by Vanshika Agrawal, curated by Sunaina Talreja. The performance is situated within the stratified context of Rome, understood as an organism in constant transformation. The work explores the relationship between word, memory, and presence, engaging the city as a space in which language is formed, transformed, and layered over time. Using the body, voice, and a landscape of mustard seeds, Agrawal crosses the threshold between language and memory, between the celestial and the earthly, composing a score made of gestures, sounds, and presences. Vanshika Agrawal’s practice unfolds through a balance between knowing and not knowing. Through embodied practices, ritual, and repetition, she investigates themes of identity, memory, and cultural transmission. By merging poetry, performance, painting, drawing, and installation, the artist shapes ephemeral spaces that connect the body with its surroundings and with the collective histories that unfold over time.

The event will take place in the first-floor room dedicated to UNAROMA LIVE.
Free admission until capacity is reached.

SPAZIO GRIOT is an independent, nomadic space, launched in November 2021 as the physical extension of the online magazine GRIOTmag, active since 2015. Driven by the eponymous collective, SPAZIO GRIOT platforms multidisciplinary experimentation, exploration, and dialogue, fostering artistic and research practices that bring critical perspectives on the tensions and transformations defining and shaping contemporary culture. As a think-feel-do tank rooted in Rome and beyond, SPAZIO GRIOT organises exhibitions, performances, screenings, listening sessions, readings, residencies, workshops, discursive and public programmes, and editorial projects. It cultivates community through collective making, growing a fluid network of partnerships with institutions, organisations, independent spaces, artists, scholars, and cultural practitioners working across both local and global contexts.
