CHIARA ENZO
Senza Titolo (Distesa)

From 9 February 2024
#Retrofuture

Chiara Enzo joins RETROFUTURE section, the collection of works by young Italian artists growing organically with time.

Senza titolo (Distesa) is a painting on paper that depicts a portion of an unmade bed through “detail painting”. Her process, dilated in time, uses enlargement as a tool to generate ambiguous and difficult-to-identify images. The proximity and the dim light hinder the immediate identification of the object and transform it into a moonscape.

CHIARA ENZO (Venice, Italy, 1989) lives and works in Venice. Her artistic practice focuses on the study of the vulnerable body, perceived as an alienated and contradictory territory, both asself and other; every image embodying ananalytical and fragmented gaze. In 2018 she completed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In 2013, she attended one yearat De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom. Recently her works have been shown at Galleria ZERO…, Milano, in the exhibition The Cargo Cult and other certainties and inher solo show Viscere (2023); in Paris at Studio Neil Beloufa (2023); and at Fondazione ICA Milano in Small fixations, curated by Chiara Nuzzi (2022). In 2022 she was invited to participate in The Milk of Dreams, the 59th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition, curated by Cecilia Alemani.
