SARA LEGHISSA
Hello, yes it’s getting scary in Ramallah, they enter at night almost everyday. It’s getting closer to us. I hope it ends soon
مرحبًا، نعم أصبح الوضع مرعبا في رام الله، فهم يدخلون ليلًا كل يوم تقريبًا. الخطر يقترب منا. أتمنى أن ينتهي كل هذا قريبا

Hello, yes it’s getting scary in Ramallah, they enter at night almost everyday. It’s getting closer to us. I hope it ends soon مرحبًا، نعم أصبح الوضع مرعبا في رام الله، فهم يدخلون ليلًا كل يوم تقريبًا. الخطر يقترب منا. أتمنى أن ينتهي كل هذا قريبا translates Sara Leghissa’s relationship with the city of Ramallah in poster form, questioning both the perception of public space and of legality amongst its inhabitants. The intervention is part of a broader practice of hanging posters and of self-inquiry on the part of the artist, who brings voices and perspectives of people or minorities who struggle to speak out in these contexts, into public space.

SARA LEGHISSA is an independent artist based in Milan. Her artistic practice takes place mainly in public spaces. Through a principle of ecology of resources, she uses as much as possible of what is already available outdoor in the space. She creates systems and devices that try to be mimetic with the context in which they occur for intercepting different audiences. She uses accessible technologies linked to the ordinary to convey images and contents.
She has been co-founder of the collective Strasse, involved in site-specific production in public space. She has presented her work in Italian and international contexts and festivals, including Santarcangelo Festival, Triennale Teatro dell’Arte, Short Theatre, Far Festival, Festival Parallele, Saal Biennal, Mir Festival, Beursschouwburg. She is a co-organizer of Nobody’s Indiscipline, NESSUNO and Una Sauna, spaces for gathering, partying, community building and interdisciplinary practice exchanges. For the publishing house NERO Editions, she published the books Will you marry me? and La scuola ha riaperto come dopo una nevicata.
