Created in the context of the anthological exhibition Cinzia Says…, dedicated to Cinzia Ruggeri (1942-2019), the talk Sogni cuciti a mano (Hand-sewn dreams) explores the experience of the artist, designer and fashion designer as a teacher.   

 

Mariuccia Casadio, Nicoletta Morozzi and Nicola Pecoraro will recount Cinzia Ruggeri’s teaching approach during the years she was a teacher at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, through a series of archive materials from the Academy.

 


 

Entrance is free of charge until capacity is reached.
The event will take place in the Auditorium.

Participating in the talk is considered an integral part of the From Foot to Head workshop on 6-7 May, curated by Nicola Pecoraro.    

 


 

MARIUCCIA CASADIO, contemporary art and style consultant and curator, she collaborated with Vogue Italia during the entire period of Franca Sozzani’s editorship. Her essays have been included in monographic publications dedicated to artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Marlene Dumas, Lily Van Der Stokker and Cinzia Ruggeri. Of the latter, she curated the exhibition Umbratile con Brio for Federico Vavassori’s gallery in Milan. In 2019, the online magazine TheArtGorgeous included her among the twenty-five most influential women in Italian contemporary art. She has been teaching “Style, History of Art and Costume” at the Master of Arts in Fashion and Textile Design at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti. 

NICOLETTA MOROZZI, designer, in 1986 she designed the City Animals collection in collaboration with Cinzia Ruggeri. She is one of the founders of do-knit-yourself, a free label with which she has realised projects such as the exhibition Dritto-Rovescio at the Triennale di Milano in 2009 and the homonymous catalogue published by Electa; the book Knit Square, published by DeAgostini; the 2009 and 2010 editions of Milano-Cina fuorisalone and the publication of the book Milano-Cina, un’esperienza di design, published by Lupetti Editori. She has collaborated and organised exhibitions in Milan and Tokyo on the theme of do-it-yourself with Muji, and held courses and workshops at Milan Polytechnic. She directed the Fashion Design Department at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, where she holds at present the role of Fashion Design Advisor, as well as teaching in the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts programmes.  

NICOLA PECORARO, visual artist, lives and works between Rome and Vienna. His research is characterised by a heterogeneous production in terms of media and forms, with the idea of the work as a by-product or “waste” of a chain of events, both physical and mental, as a common thread. Pecoraro was artistic director and co-editor of Nero Magazine, and is one of the founders of the Guimarães art space in Vienna. His solo exhibitions have been held at Fondazione Brodbeck, Catania (2019); Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce, Genova (2017); Kunst Meran (2017); Collicaligreggi, Catania (2017); Ermes-Ermes, Rome (2016). He teaches Illustration for the BA in Fashion Design at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.
