As part of Barrikadenwetter. Image Acts of Insurrection, on view in the BIBLIOGRAPHIC OFFICE section, the curators of the exhibition, Wolfgang Scheppe and Bastiaan van der Velden of Arsenale Institute, a research group which has long been engaged in projects related to visual arts as well as the critical analysis of the politics of representation, will be in conversation with Lorenzo Gigotti, co-founder of NERO Editions which has published the volume Taxonomy of The Barricade – Image Acts of Political Authority in Paris, May 1968.

Starting from a historical survey by the Arsenale Institute, they will explore the construction, concept and iconography of the barricade, from its beginnings in the late Renaissance to present times, tracing its historical connections with the roots of the 20th century avant-garde.

The event will take place in the auditorium.
