RO-SÉ: A book as a bridge was published on the occasion of Nathalie Du Pasquier’s solo exhibition at MACRO, titled Campo di Marte (3 February – 20 June 2021), then at Mrac Occitanie in Sérignan (16 April – 25 September 2022): a major exhibition that brought together more than one hundred of Du Pasquier’s paintings, sculptures, drawings and engravings from the early 1980s to the present day. This book oscillates between a catalogue and an artist’s book, juxtaposing photographs of the artist’s works, views of the installation of the exhibition at the MACRO and extracts from the texts of various writers and personalities fundamental to her practice. All these elements come together to create an extension of the exhibition itself and convey its spirit: the pages become an exhibition space, hosting associations and combinations that allow us to understand and deepen our understanding of Du Pasquier’s work and, more generally, her imagination. It is a taste of the possibilities offered by her practice, which can be approached, interpreted, and experienced from countless angles. It is the sheer breadth and variety of her oeuvre and inspirations that makes the exploration of her work—and thus this publication—non-exhaustive.
